Located in Rundle Mall in the David Jones complex, Live Element delivers a comprehensive cinema experience inviting more options in terms of digital production and programming. The term “moving picture” is the sole definition for Live Element.
The space relies heavily on lighting and the sculptural folding of the cladded copper ceiling, lightly poised throughout the space in obscure organic folds, where the internal lighting structure acts as an animation technique.

Live Element offers vast recreational spaces for communal unity, taking advantage of the latest digital technology. This idea is derived from a shift in conventional cinematography, where one feels as if they are a part of the sequence.
Design proposal for the tourist industry; South Australian iconic radio station for commercial broadcasting and recording, catering for the local area. The proposed fit out will be located within the foundation of the existing Federation Trade Building; situated just off the West End strip of Waymouth Street, SA. SHUFFLE broadcasting & recording studio will awaken the dead laneway, attracting locals, tourists, and Artists. The proposal will define Adelaide’s culture as a dedicated talent hot-spot globally.
Recording artists will have the opportunity to record and release an EP, enabling visitors to listen within the designated tune pods occupying both levels. Visitors may embrace the atmospheric qualities contrasting other neighbouring streets both visually and functionally; activation doesn’t end at night. When the doors are locked, the lane becomes a museum displaying true talent, trophies and plaques, delicately poised on the display unit, gently illuminate the entry corridor, visually igniting Cannon Street.
The Site -
Set on the ground floor in the former MLC Building in the North West corner of Victoria Square. Built in 1955 and registered as a significant example of mid 20th century Australian Modernism.
A referenced fit out to capture the past -
A delicate connected form, free standing in the world; lightly making an impression that captures the essence of modenity. The form inspired by the shapes and blunt angles of the 1950’s, where an angle can flow into a rounded junction and also incoporate the subtle bracing qualities of a free stanging idea.
A lightweight pallete of carefully selected soft tones reflect the use of materiality and neutral watercolour rendering that inspired artists and designers such as Martin Boyd to incorporate the glowing colour scheme into his Ramekin cup. Spacially appealing, the emporium features a cocktail bar for visitors to reside while intaking the atmoshpere of the location. Showcasing the best in visually appealing furniture, object and artwork, the upper level is a place where enthusiasts can intake the spacial array of these dedicate displays, embracing the era.
